The Finish/Post-Finish
The finish of the TCS New York City Marathon is a thrilling and emotional moment for runners.
As you cross the finish line, MarathonFoto will take your picture and video. Keep your race number visible, look up, and smile!
Soon after, you'll receive a medal, a post-race poncho, and a TCS New York City Marathon Runner Recovery Bag presented by Hospital for Special Surgery containing recovery items including Gatorade® products, a New York State McIntosh apple, Snyder's of Hanover pretzels, and a protein bar. Medical aid will be available at the finish and throughout the post-finish area.
Post-Finish and Exiting Central Park
Make a post-finish plan for race day and be aware that cellular saturation may prevent you from using your phone in and around the post-finish area. If you’re meeting friends and family, have a meeting location outside of the runners-only area. Your friends and family can track you using the TCS New York City Marathon App Powered by Tata Consultancy Services.
Runners will exit Central Park at West 77th Street; MarathonFoto will take pictures and video of all finishers after they exit on Central Park West. Once on Central Park West, you may exit the runners-only area at West 75th Street, West 74th Street, or West 69th Street, or continue south to Family Reunion.
Runners who pre-check a bag can retrieve that bag after they finish the race in the post-finish area located on Central Park West between West 70th Street and West 71st Street until 7:00 p.m. After 7:00 p.m., all unclaimed bags will be moved to the NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the New Balance Run Hub where they will be available for pickup on Marathon Monday, November 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
For the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon, there will be private and dedicated lactation spaces that provide pumping accommodations and amenities at the finish lines. Medela hand pumps will be available, giving participants easy options for pumping. As in previous years, NYRR will transport personal nursing pumps from the start to the finish area for athletes. Please note, at this time, NYRR is unable to transport breast milk for participants.
Family Reunion
Everyone entering Family Reunion is subject to bag inspection and screening. With this in mind, you may want to arrange to meet family and friends at a predetermined location away from Family Reunion.
Family reunion will be located on Central Park West between West 63rd Street and West 66th Street, with screening points for entry for friends and family on Columbus Avenue. Family Reunion will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. We suggest meeting your friends and family in Family Reunion at the letter corresponding to the first in your last name. The letter ranges are below:
- West 66th Street will be A-D
- West 65th Street will be E-K
- West 64th Street will be L-R
- West 63rd Street will be S-Z
If you choose to meet in Family Reunion, we recommend that you not bring large bags, strollers, or other bulky items. It is recommended that friends and family arrive at Family Reunion approximately 20-30 minutes after their runner's anticipated finish time, as it can take runners some time after crossing the finish to exit Central Park.

Official Course Closure Time
In the interest of safety, and to allow streets and park drives to reopen as scheduled, the TCS New York City Marathon course will remain open to all participants who can maintain a 16-minute-per-mile pace. Those participants who are not able to maintain this pace should be aware that fluid stations and other course amenities may not be available, and participants on the parts of the course staged on city streets may be asked to board the Tail Sweep bus or move to the sidewalks. A team of NYRR staff and volunteers will support those participants on the sidewalks as they make their way to the finish until the official 10:00:00 p.m. E.T. finish time.
Official finishers are recorded through 10:00:00 p.m. E.T., regardless of their start times. These finishers will receive:
- A finisher medal
- An official event result listing at results.nyrr.org
- 9+1 credit toward non-complimentary guaranteed entry to the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon
- A star (or Six Star Medal, if eligible) in the Abbott World Marathon Majors Six Star Medal program
Participants crossing the finish line after 10:00:00 p.m. E.T. will not be recorded as official finishers and will not receive an official event result listing. These participants will receive a finisher medal.
American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters
American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters will be present during the following times:
- Finish Line - Spectator Information/Support 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
- Post-Race - Top Finishers Press Conference 10:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
- Finish Line - Family Reunion Area 2:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
