The entries available to non-guaranteed applicants will be filled through three drawings, one in each of the following applicant pools:

1. "NYC metro area" applicants: Residents in and within 60 miles of New York City
2. "National" applicants: U.S. residents outside of the NYC metro area, including Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories
3. "International" applicants: Non-U.S. residents

NYRR Member-Only Second-Chance Drawing for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon

Current members of New York Road Runners who meet the eligibility criteria below and apply to the non-guaranteed general entry drawing will automatically be entered into the NYRR Member-Only Second-Chance Drawing taking place on March 4, 2026. To be eligible, your NYRR Membership must be active as of February 3 and remain active through drawing day on March 4. Learn more.

Once you submit the application into the non-guaranteed drawing, you have authorized NYRR to charge your credit or debit card a non-refundable entry fee upon acceptance into the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon. Your card must have an expiration date of March 2026 or later, and if you plan to pay using a debit card, please ensure that your card has enough funds to pay the entry fee. In preparation for drawing day, we recommend proactively reaching out to your bank and letting them know to approve a charge from New York Road Runners on drawing day.

A drawing will be conducted within each applicant pool. The provided credit card is charged when the applicant is drawn; if the charge is not approved, the applicant will receive an email fix their credit card information by March 6, 2025. NYRR will periodically try the charges again through March 7, at which point any applications that were not successfully charged the registration fee will be forfeited.

You can remove your name from the applicant pool prior to the drawing, but once you are accepted by any method, you will immediately be charged the full registration fee.  You will recieve an email at the end of the day confirming your selection. All fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable. NYRR does not contact applicants prior to accepting them in order to reconfirm that they wish to be selected.

All Athletes with a Disability (Ambulatory, Pushrim Wheelchair, and Handcycle) applicants that do not already have guaranteed entry should apply to the non-guaranteed entry drawing.

For those athletes that are utilizing pushrim wheelchairs and handcycles, the rules applicable to the TCS New York City Marathon do not permit entry by a person intending to be pushed in a wheelchair, stroller or other piece of equipment by another person or persons. To be accepted for entry, "disabled" applicants planning to use a wheelchair or other allowable equipment must be able to "propel" themselves through the marathon course. While official "guides" and "support runners" are permitted to accompany a disabled entrant on the course, such guides and/or support runners cannot propel the entrant through the course in any way.

NYRR’s AWD Team does offer a Duo Team exhibition in the TCS New York City Marathon. This program is an application-based separate drawing from the general drawing for entry into the event. A Duo Team is comprised of an individual with no physical, intellectual, or visual impairment that impacts the individual’s ability to ambulate or participate in the sport of running (the Pusher) who “pushes” a non-ambulatory individual with a permanent physical impairment (the Pushee) in a customized wheelchair, specific for outdoor road racing. Both team members must meet the event registration and pairing requirements.

NYRR strives to host inclusive, sustainable, and accessible events that enable all individuals to engage. To request reasonable accommodations or for inquiries about accessibility for attending this event, please email accessibility@nyrr.org.
