Race Entry Registration Pilot

As part of our ongoing work to improve race access and participation across our community, New York Road Runners is continuing its race entry registration pilot for select October–December 2026 races. This pilot is designed to create more opportunities for runners to participate in NYRR events by designating a small number of entries for non–9+1 or non–4 Out of 6 participants with the goal of easing demand.

The pilot will not reduce the number of 9+1 or 4 out of 6 entries available.

All October–December races will remain eligible for +1 volunteer credit.

9+1

As part of this effort, some entries for select races during this period will be offered as “non-9+1” eligible for entry into the 2027 TCS New York City Marathon—while continuing to offer ways to complete the program. This pilot will not reduce the number of 9+1 entries available. The following races will offer non-9+1 entries. These will open for advanced registration for members at the Member Plus and above levels on Monday, June 8. Please do not attempt to register on this day if you want 9+1 or 4 Out of 6 credit.

The following races will include non-9+1 entry entries:

  • NYRR Jersey City 5K
  • NYRR Staten Island Half (advance registration opens to all member levels)
  • Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K
  • Race to Deliver 4M to Benefit God's Love We Deliver
  • NYRR Ted Corbitt 15K
  • NYRR Frosty 5K
  • NYRR Midnight Run

4 Out of 6

Additionally, some entries will also be designated as “non-4 out of 6” eligible for the 2027 United Airlines NYC Half. This will not reduce the number of 4 out of 6 entries available.

The non-9+1 entries for the following race will also be non-4 out of 6:

  • NYRR Staten Island Half

At the time of registration, all races will be clearly labeled so that runners know whether an entry is eligible for the relevant guaranteed entry program or part of the pilot. These non-credit races will open for advance registration for members at the Member Plus and above levels on Monday, June 8 at 12:00 p.m. ET. Additionally, the NYRR Staten Island Half will open for registration to all members on Monday, June 8 (non–9+1 and non–4 Out of 6 entries) and Tuesday, June 9 (9+1 and 4 Out of 6 entries).

9+1 and 4 Out of 6 credit entries for October-December races will open at 12:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 9 and Thursday, June 11. Read the full list here.

Non–9+1-credit and non–4 Out of 6 credit entries will open for advance registration for members at the Member Plus and above levels on Monday, June 8. Why are you piloting this approach for races?

As part of our mission, New York Road Runners aims to provide broad access to running opportunities. In recent years, race demand has been driven by the 9+1 program for guaranteed entry to the TCS New York City Marathon. By offering a portion of entries to select October–December races as non–9+1 eligible, we’re working to improve race access for runners who want to participate in NYRR events regardless of 9+1.

Is this a permanent change?

This is a continued pilot for October–December races. We’ll evaluate how it meets the needs of our running community before making any future decisions.

Which races are affected?

Some entries in the following October–December races will be non–9+1 eligible.

Will the pilot impact Club Point Series race eligibility?

No. The NYRR Staten Island Half and the NYRR Ted Corbitt 15K continue to be eligible for the Club Point Series and club runners in those races will have their race count toward CPS points regardless of whether they receive 9+1 or 4 Out of 6 credit.

What if I have 8+1 but can’t get into another 9+1 race?

To complete the program, runners must finish nine qualifying races and one volunteer opportunity within the calendar year.

Will non-9+1 entries cost less?

No. Entry fees for October–December races will remain the same for members and non-members, regardless of 9+1 eligibility.

What will the split be between 9+1 and non-9+1 entries?

As part of this pilot, a small number of non–9+1 credit entries will be available. The number of 9+1 entries will remain constant.

If non-9+1 entries don’t sell out, will they be converted to 9+1 entries?

NYRR does not plan to convert unsold entries but reserves the right to do so.

If I register for non 9+1 race can I transfer my registration to 9+1 race?

No, all registrations are final and cannot be transferred.

Will all October–December races still be +1 eligible for volunteer credit?

Yes, all October–December races will be +1 eligible.

Advance Registration

On Monday, June 8 (non-9+1 and non-4 Out of 6 credit entries) and Tuesday, June 9, all members will have advance registration access to the following October–December races:

  • NYRR Staten Island Half
