Tanya Ravichandran Advocates for Slow Fashion's Sustainability

Tanya Ravichandran, is passionate about sustainability and rejects fast trends, even in performance wear. She advocates for second-hand running and athleisure gear—which is rare in such a cyclical, overconsumed category.
“I’ve worn the same workout clothes since middle school,” Tanya said.
The 23-year-old lives in Brooklyn and is a slow-fashion influencer who shares her slow fashion sensibility on Instagram and TikTok. She plans to run the TCS New York City Marathon with NYRR’s Team for Climate, a charity that fundraises to offset or reduce carbon emissions to help contribute to NYRR’s sustainability journey.
Tanya sees running as an act of gratitude toward the earth for sustaining movement and life.
"Being part of Team Inspire means sharing my story as a runner who cares deeply about the planet. I'm proud to run for climate action and show how small choices, like secondhand fashion, can create real change,” she said.
Tanya is part of #TeamInspire, a diverse group of 18 entrants whose stories capture the power of running to change lives. Learn more about Team Inspire here and read other stories at the links below.
