New York, Sept. 15, 2026 – New York Road Runners (NYRR)—the nonprofit that “runs” New York City producing 60 annual adult and youth races including the TCS New York City Marathon, will host approximately 13,000 runners on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the sold-out 2026 New Balance Bronx 10 Mile, as well as hundreds of youth in the accompanying Boogie Down Kids Run.

“The New Balance Bronx 10 Mile is about so much more than the miles—it’s a commemoration of our genesis, of the essence of the Bronx, and of the people who make this community so special,” said Rob Simmelkjaer, New York Road Runners CEO. “From the determination of every runner at the start line, to the electric energy along the course, this race captures the pride, resilience, and excitement that define this borough. We’re thrilled to celebrate race day in the Bronx and continue our commitment to build healthier lives and stronger communities through the transformative power of running.“

Founded in 1958 at Macombs Dam Park in the Bronx, New York Road Runners has grown from a small local run club into a leading nonprofit dedicated to building healthier lives and stronger communities through running. To honor these roots, the New Balance Bronx 10 Mile takes runners on a 10-mile tour of the vibrant borough—beginning near Yankee Stadium on Grand Concourse, heading north to Mosholu Parkway, and finishing after crossing River Avenue and the subway overpass.

The race is the nonprofit’s premier running event in the Bronx and is the fifth of six races in New York Road Runners’ Five-Borough Series—a showcase of the organization’s commitment to the individuals and communities throughout the city with borough-specific races that also include the NYRR Manhattan 10K in February, the United Airlines NYC Half in March, the RBC Brooklyn Half in May, the Citizens Queens 10K in June, and the NYRR Staten Island Half on Oct. 11. The Bronx 10 Mile began as the Bronx Half Marathon in 1995. New Balance has been the event’s title sponsor since 2016 and is New York Road Runners’ Official Athletic Footwear and Apparel partner.

“The New Balance Bronx 10 Mile is one of my favorite races of the year because of its spirit and its legacy. Growing up in The Bronx, where New York Road Runners was founded, is truly a homecoming for us,” said Ted Metellus, New York Road Runners chief event production officer and race director. “Running has the power to inspire confidence and create a sense of belonging. Whether someone is taking their first steps as a runner or preparing for the TCS New York City Marathon, we’re proud to create inclusive and accessible opportunities for everyone to experience the joy and community that running can bring.“

Notable and Inspiring Run Clubs

This year’s race will feature over a dozen local Bronx run clubs, including:

  • Bronx Burners Run Club: A club with initiatives designed for all backgrounds and paces to make running accessible to everyone in the Bronx community.
  • Bronx Sole: A running and walking crew dedicated to inspiring non-active Bronxites of all ages and fitness levels to become more physically active.
  • Boogie Down Bronx Runners: A community of runners, dreamers, and doers moving the Bronx forward.
  • Run the Neck: The only running club in the Throggs Neck neighborhood of the Bronx, which started as a group of mostly women and mothers, and now welcomes runners of all ages and abilities, from beginners to race trainers.
  • Van Cortlandt Track Club: One of the borough’s largest running clubs, which promotes and fosters a welcoming and supportive community for recreational and competitive runners of all levels of experience, ability, and goals.

Sustainability Efforts

As part of New York Road Runners’ commitment to ensuring future generations have access to clean air, green spaces, and a healthy environment in which to be active, the nonprofit will debut Culligan filtered-water refill stations with its Official Water Solutions Partner, Culligan International, the global leader in water services. At the start of the New Balance Bronx 10 Mile and on the course between miles 8 and 9, runners will have the opportunity to refill their own cups, water bottles, or hydration vests directly. First trialed at the RBC Brooklyn Half in May, the Culligan Water Refill Stations leverage proven science to deliver cleaner, better-tasting drinking water at high flow rates. Using high-capacity activated carbon filtration, the systems effectively reduce microplastics and unpleasant tastes or odors while ensuring high-quality hydration for participants. This initiative represents an extension of New York Road Runners’ long-term partnership with Culligan, grown around sustainability and the promotion of a reuse-based model.

2026 New Balance Bronx 10 Mile Panel

New York Road Runners, in partnership with New Balance, will host a 2026 New Balance Bronx 10 Mile panel in celebration of the race on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. at the newly renovated NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the New Balance Run Hub. The conversation will be moderated by Pedro Concepcion, New York Road Runners head of warehouse operations, and will feature Metellus; Timm Chiusano, author, father, and former Fortune 100 creative executive; and Shaq Roberts of the Bronx Burners run club. The discussion, which is open to the public, will explore the borough’s connection to running and spotlight the Bronx Burners and the work they are doing in their community, from bringing runners together to creating opportunities and giving back beyond race day.

Boogie Down Kids Run

In addition to the adult race, New York Road Runners will host the third-annual Boogie Down Kids Run—a free event for hundreds of kids ages 2–18. This high-energy event, featuring a field day–style festival in Joyce Kilmer Park and a run along the iconic Grand Concourse, is one of more than 20 free Rising New York Road Runners youth events the nonprofit hosts throughout the year, offering fun and rewarding experiences that encourage kids to be physically active and build their confidence to cross any finish line.

Post-Race Festival

New York Road Runners will host a post-race festival, taking place beneath the 161st Street Yankee Stadium station, to celebrate the New Balance Bronx 10 Mile finishers. The festival will feature a New Balance activation that includes a photo opportunity, as well as posters that runners can customize with their finish time. The Hospital for Special Surgery will have a tent with experts to help runners recover and feel their best with guided stretching and foam rolling, giving every athlete the tools to support recovery and optimize performance.
