New York, Sept. 9, 2026 – New York Road Runners (NYRR)—the nonprofit that “runs” New York City producing 60 annual adult and youth races and providing free youth and community programming—today reopened its NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the New Balance Run Hub at 320 W. 57th St. in Midtown Manhattan after a seven-month renovation.
The expanded RUNCENTER was redesigned to meet the needs of New York City’s growing and evolving running community, marking the first major renovation of the space since it opened in 2017. Nearly a decade later, as running has exploded in popularity, the RUNCENTER serves as a welcoming, community-driven “third space” where New Yorkers and visitors can come together through a shared love of running and movement.
“As the nonprofit that ‘runs’ New York City, we want the RUNCENTER to be a place where everyone feels welcome, whether you’re a new runner seeking guidance, a seasoned New York Road Runners member picking up your bib for a weekly race, or a visitor looking to connect with the New York City running community,” said Rob Simmelkjaer, New York Road Runners CEO. “This expanded and redesigned space reflects our vision to build healthier lives and stronger communities through the transformative power of running, with a centrally located, accessible destination for all runners to discover the physical, mental, and social benefits of movement.”
“Our partnership with New York Road Runners has always been rooted in a shared belief that running has the power to bring people together and create positive change,” said Joe Preston, President and CEO of New Balance. “We're proud to celebrate the reopening of the expanded NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the New Balance Run Hub, a welcoming space where runners of all backgrounds can connect, learn, and find inspiration for their next mile.”
With nearly 2,000 square feet of extra space to accommodate additional programming, the RUNCENTER features a completely redesigned look and feel to highlight New York Road Runners’ rebrand and new “Believe in Every Step” brand platform. The space’s visually compelling graphics and imagery showcase New York Road Runners’ history, impact across the five boroughs, and wide range of free programs for people of all ages and abilities, inspiring visitors to believe in the power of every step to transform lives.
“Our ‘Believe in Every Step’ brand platform is rooted in a simple idea: Every step has the potential to transform a life, and everyone should be able to see themselves as part of the running community,” said Juliette Morris, New York Road Runners chief marketing and digital officer. “For the first time, we’ve brought that idea to life in a physical space. Every element of the new RUNCENTER was designed to showcase the New York Road Runners story, from our year-round events including the TCS New York City Marathon to our free community programs and training support. We hope everyone who walks through our doors feels that they belong here and leaves inspired to believe in their own next step.”
Since 2017, the RUNCENTER has served as a year-round home for New York City’s running community, welcoming more than 1 million runners as they picked up weekly race bib numbers and souvenirs, tried on and purchased New Balance gear, participated in a wide range of events and programming, and used the convenient location as a meeting place for group runs.
The RUNCENTER will continue to welcome thousands of visitors each week, providing bib pickup, lockers for those looking to store their belongings while out on a run—with a 35 percent increase in lockers to 105 available for public use—four changing rooms, three bathrooms, a new Culligan water refill station, water fountains, and used-sneaker donation collection via the Sneaker Impact recycling program.
Additional new elements and features of the RUNCENTER include:
- An Entry Moment featuring the New York Road Runners torch logo, brought to life as a digital screen highlighting moments from New York Road Runners events and programs, set against a wall made with rubber from donated running shoes including those collected from the New York Road Runners community and upcycled by Sneaker Impact..
- A History Wall showcasing New York Road Runners’ growth from a local running club to the world’s premier running organization, with a timeline, imagery, and memorabilia across the nonprofit’s nearly 70 years.
- NYRR Impact Pillars amplifying the nonprofit’s free youth and community programs, as well as NYRR Team for Kids, NYRR Team for Climate, and volunteers.
- Water refill station from Culligan International, NYRR’s Official Water Solutions Partner, offering cold, chilled, sparking and flavored filtered water, while reducing reliance on single-use plastic water bottles.
- Community steps with bleacher-style seating for approximately 42 people to gather before runs and enjoy informal programming.
- A new programming loft on the mezzanine level—where the New Balance Run Hub was previously located—providing double the amount of programming space than before, with a capacity of up to 150 seats.
- An expanded programming schedule offering Peloton instructor-led classes, including yoga and strength training, courtesy of NYRR’s Connected Fitness and Strength Partner, as well as live NYRR Set the Pace Presented by Peloton podcast recordings; panels; course strategy sessions; educational sessions on injury prevention and recovery tips from Hospital for Special Surgery, the Official Hospital of NYRR; and more.
- The New Balance Run Hub, which reopened in July with a fresh look and new location next door and connected to the NYRR RUNCENTER at 322 W. 57th St. The new Run Hub offers increased product selection from NYRR’s long-standing Official Athletic Footwear and Apparel Sponsor. Visitors can shop the latest running styles, use a 3D foot scanner to find the right shoe, pick up online orders, and more.
The RUNCENTER will resume its regular operating hours, open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The New Balance Run Hub will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Nucor, North America's largest steel manufacturer and recycler, served as the construction manager.
