Susanna Sullivan

Susanna Sullivan USA

After an injury-plagued collegiate career, Susanna Sullivan has become a staple in American women’s marathon running. She represented Team USA at the 2023 World Athletics Championships and competed on the global stage again in September at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, leading much of the race and finishing as the top American in 2:28:17.

Later in 2025, she made her TCS New York City Marathon debut, finishing the 26.2-mile course in 2:28:34. Most recently, Sullivan ran the 2026 Houston Half Marathon, establishing a new personal best of 1:08:44, and this spring, she will return to the Big Apple to participate in her second United Airlines NYC Half.

In 2023 Sullivan finished the London Marathon as the top American in 10th, running 2:24:27. After testing positive for Covid-19, she missed the 2024 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, but recovered in time for the Chicago Marathon, placing as the top American again.

Sullivan also shares her passion for running—and math—in the classroom, as she is a full-time sixth-grade math teacher and a volunteer coach at George Mason University.
