After graduating, he moved to Boulder, Colo., to train with the Tinman Elite group.
In 2018, he finished fourth over 10,000 meters at the USTAF Outdoor Championships at Drake Stadium and was the top American at the Houston Half Marathon. He competed at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, finished ninth at the 2021 Chicago Marathon, and was fifth at the 2022 USATF Half Marathon Championships. He was 10th in his TCS New York City Marathon debut in 2022.
Fischer lives in Boulder with his wife, Christine, and works as a digital marketing associate. His training was limited last year when he took time off the roads to help Christine, who was diagnosed with breast cancer.
