Konstanze Klosterhalfen
Konstanze Klosterhalfen, affectionately known as “Koko,” is a beloved six-time European Championships medalist and the 2019 World Athletics Championships bronze medalist in the 5,000 meters. She will make her New York Road Runners racing debut at the United Airlines NYC Half in March.
The 29-year-old runner is the national record holder in the 1,500 meters, one mile, 2,000 meters, 3,000 meters, 5,000 meters, and 10,000 meters. She returns to New York City after finishing third in the Wanamaker Mile at the 2022 Millrose Games.
Her last half marathon was in Valencia in 2024, where she finished ninth in 1:07:07. Two years prior she won in Valencia, becoming the first non-African winner of the event since 2003. That same year Klosterhalfen won gold at the European Championships in the 5,000 meters
She first competed at the Olympics in 2016, placing sixth in the 1,500 meters. At age 18, she took the U20 European Cross Country title and both the 1,500 and 3,000 meters at the German Athletics Championships.
