Jacob Kiplimo
Jacob Kiplimo is the half marathon world-record holder and an Olympic and World Championships bronze medalist in the 10,000 meters.
On November 21, 2021, he set the half marathon world record of 57:31 when winning the Lisbon Half, three months after taking a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in the 10,000 meters. Then last year, he won bronze in the 10,000 meters at the World Championships and gold in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at the Commonwealth Games.
Kiplimo became the youngest Olympian ever from Uganda when he competed at the Rio 2016 Olympics at age 15. Then in 2017 he won the under-20 category at the World Cross Country Championships, and in 2019 became the World Cross Country Championships silver medalist.
In January, he launched the Discovery Uganda Championships to identify and support young running talents in his home country.
