After he ran 1:00:20 at the 2025 Houston Half Marathon, making him the sixth-fastest American in history, Bor placed third at the 2025 United Airlines NYC Half in 59:55. Two weeks prior, he landed on the podium at the USATF Half Marathon Championships.
Known for his versatility, Bor has excelled on the track and the roads, with a shift in 2024 to the half marathon.
Prior to moving up in distance, Bor represented Team USA in the steeplechase at both the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics, finishing seventh in the former, as well as at the 2022, 2019, and 2017 World Athletics Championships.
Growing up in Eldoret, Kenya, he began his athletic career as a pole vaulter, long jumper, and high jumper before investing his time in the steeplechase. He attended and competed at Iowa State University, where he was an All-American, before joining the U.S. Army and gaining U.S. citizenship. The sport runs in the family, as Bor’s brothers, Emmanuel and Julius, both ran for the University of Alabama and teamed up with him to win the All-Armed Forces Cross Country Championships in 2016.
