Emily Sisson
Emily Sisson is a two-time Olympian and World Championships finalist, seven-time national champion, and the American record holder in the marathon.
After a successful switch to the roads, Sisson finished as the runner-up at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, securing her spot on Team USA. In Paris she finished 23rd.
Sisson has a long history on the track, making her Olympic debut in the 10,000 meters at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. During the U.S. Olympic Trials, which saw unusually high temperatures, she set a new meet record and qualified for the Olympic finals, ultimately finishing 10th. She previously ran the 10,000 meters at the 2017 and 2019 World Athletics Championships, notching top 10 finishes in both.
2019 was a banner year for Sisson, as she came within five seconds of the American half marathon record in Houston then clocked 2:23:08 at the London Marathon, at the time the fastest-ever debut by an American woman on a record-eligible course. She continued to dominate at the marathon distance and shattered the American record in 2022, running 2:18:29 in Chicago. Sisson followed up that performance with another American record in the half-marathon in 2023 at the Houston Half Marathon, a time that was later eclipsed by Keira D’Amato and Weini Kelati.
Sisson has been very successful in New York, finishing as the runner-up at the United Airlines NYC Half twice and winning the USATF 5K Championships. She ran her first United Airlines NYC Half in 2017 in 1:08:21, at the time the fastest-ever half marathon debut by an American woman. The following year she was runner-up again and will look to improve her spot on the podium at the 2025 United Airlines NYC Half.
As a two-time NCAA champion at Providence College, Sisson was a 10-time NCAA All-American and set the NCAA indoor record for 5000 meters (15:12.22). The Chesterfield, Mo., native, who has three sisters, is still coached by Ray Treacy, her college coach.
