A rising star in American distance running, 26-year-old Alex Maier burst onto the scene in 2025 winning three national titles across disciplines, including the half marathon, four mile, and 10 mile, which was an American record performance (45:15).

Maier will make his United Airlines NYC Half debut just two months after finishing fourth in Houston in 59:23, a personal best and just six seconds off Conner Mantz’s American record. He won the Düsseldorf Marathon in 2025 with a time of 2:08:33 and placed 18th in the 2024 Chicago Marathon, his marathon debut.

At Oklahoma State University, he was the runner-up in the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 10,000 meters and a member of their 2023 cross country NCAA-winning team.

Maier was born and raised in Texas. His go-to karaoke song is “All Star” by Smash Mouth.
