Aaron Pike
A six-time Paralympian, Aaron Pike has represented the U.S. in both the summer and winter Games. At the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021, he raced in four events, finishing as high as sixth place in the marathon, and then five months later competed in biathlon and cross-country skiing at the Beijing Paralympics. Earlier this year, he won his first international gold medal in any sport, in addition to two silvers, at the World Para Nordic Skiing Championships.
Pike has finished in the top five in his last three TCS New York City Marathon appearances and is still in search of his first podium spot. He finished second at the 2022 Boston Marathon and third at both the 2022 and 2021 editions of the Chicago Marathon.
He is the American record-holder in the marathon, originally taking the top time in the history books when he won the Grandma’s Marathon in 2018 in 1:20:59. He broke the record again last year at the Grandma’s Marathon, winning in 1:20:02. He won his fifth Grandma’s Marathon this year.
At the London 2012 Paralympics, Pike raced in the 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters, and the marathon. Two years later, he was back on Team USA for the winter Paralympics in Sochi, competing in Nordic skiing. He returned to the roads to represent the United States in 2016, and went back to the snow in 2018, placing sixth and seventh in his two biathlon events.
Originally from Park Rapids, Minn, Pike attended the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, training under head coach and Paralympian Adam Bleakney. After suffering from an injury due to a hunting accident at age 13, Pike quickly began to learn about the world of adaptive sports. He enjoys fishing and camping. His fiancée, Oksana Masters, is a 17-time Paralympic medalist.
